On board the (packed) minibus from Cape Wrath to the Kyle.
Goodbye to all this…
Fasten your seatbelts…
Early morning light on Cape Wrath
Looking back to the bothy, apart from which the landscape is pretty featureless.
Unypically unboggy Cape Wrath terrain
Entering Cape Wrath military training area.
Waiting for the legendary ferry, which can be unpredictable in both timing and configuration.
The derelict radio station. One of the metal shutters was loose so I naughtily climbed in, but there was nothing but bare walls, the place had been stripped.
This is it. This is the gate to Cape Wrath. From the quality of the stonework it’s immediately obvious this was once a rather splendid establishment.
Mountain Avens
Roseroot Sedum rosea at Cape Wrath.
Sandwood bay from the north.
Strathchailleach Bothy
Strathchailleach Bothy at dawn.
Sandy’s master bedroom in which, arriving in the early afternoon, I had the privilege of sleeping.
Lumps of dry peat ready to gather.
Sandy’s peat bank.
Finally going properly!
The peat store. There was already plenty of peat, but I wanted to gather my own for the experience.
From the extensive bothy scrapbook at Strathchailleach.
